DEBURRING |
|
Deburring is a
mechanical process whereby parts are placed in a piece of
equipment along with abrasive media, water and a cleaning
compound. Action or movement of the equipment is created to cause
the media to press and/or rub against the parts surfaces, edges
and corners to remove burrs, radius edges and corners, improve
surface finishes and alter and/or enhance surface characteristics. |
|
Deburring Processes |
Deburring is commonly used in the
following processes:
Deburring - removal of unwanted sharp edges and burrs left
aover from
the manufacturing process.
Descaling - removal of rust, oxidation and mill scale.
Deflashing - removal of the excess material formed when
ametal parts
are created using a mold.
Typical parts that require deburring include stampings, forgings,
castings and screw machine parts. |
